Four out of Five stars for this emotional and hopeful graphic novel. Thank you to the #kidlitexchange network for the review copy of this book- all opinions are my own.

Sunny is having a tough time in middle school and things at home aren’t much better either. Sunny misses her older brother Dale, who is off at boarding school. Even when he comes home to visit, she still misses the brother he used to be. A lot has changed over the past year and Sunny is struggling to cope with it all. Determined to not let the tough times get her down, Sunny must find a way to stay Sunny-side up!

Even though I didn’t read the prequel Sunny Side Up, this novel was still great. Sunny is a sweet and likable character. I admire how much she tries to stay positive when faced with so much change. I do wish the story was longer, as it left me wanting to know more about Sunny and Dale. I hope there is another book on the way!  I would recommend Swing it, Sunny to anyone who is looking for an honest and open story about coping with family change.
